Introduction

NMRhub registration page

Creating an NMRhub account provides access to both NMRbox (nmrbox.org) and the Network for Advanced NMR (NAN) (usnan.org), which share the same single sign-on (SSO) system. Before you begin, please note the following:

  • NMRhub widget
All account requests are reviewed for eligibility.
  • If you indicate that you are a Principal Investigator (PI), your status will be verified.
  • Account approvals may take up to three business days.
  • Registration Form
NAN uses a permission model where:
    • PIs manage access to datasets collected within their research groups.
    • users must be associated with a PI to view datasets in the NAN data browser.
    • accounts can be linked to multiple PIs, and PIs can be associated with other PIs for collaborative management.
    • Adding PI
if your account is not linked to a PI, or you are not a PI yourself, you will not be able to see datasets within the NAN data browser.

Steps to create an account

  1. Navigate to NMRhub and press "Register" below where it says "All together now" (See NMRhub registration page figure)
    • Alternatively from the User icon on the top right-hand corner or the NMRhub, NMRbox, and NAN websites select the down arrow and select "Register"
  2. Enter an institutional email address. A preferred email address may also be added, but is not required.
    • Note, if you previously had an account under a different institutional email please login and update your institutional email address rather than creating a second account.
  3. Press the Next button
  4. Click to Link your ORCID iD
    • This helps verify your identity and to ensure the ORIC iD your provide is really yours
    • This is beneficial if you lose access to your institutional email address and allows us to verify a request to change an institutional email is valid
    • We only request the first and last name from your ORCID profile
    • If you do not yet have an ORCID iD you can create one immediately and link it to your account.
  5. Enter the following information:
    • First and Last Name
    • Institution (please select from the pull-down list as you start typing)
      • Note that verify that the institutions are valid and we normalize institutions names occasionally (e.g. UConn Health Center vs UCHC)
    • Department
    • Job Title
    • Address (Address, Country, State or Provenance, City, Zip Code)
    • Account Type
      • Academic / Government / Non-Profit - users who select this option will have their status verified and will have access to NMRbox production servers as well as NAN and other NMRhub resources
      • Commercial - commercial users will have access to NAN, but access to NMRbox will be limited.
  6. Press "Looks Good"
  7. Provide a cell number (not mandatory) and whether we may text you.
    • Note: the only reason we request a cell phone number is for facility managers to call or text you information about your sample submissions. We do not use the cell phone number for any other purpose.
  8. Select the "I am a Principal Investigator" checkbox if it applies
    • The PI status is verified by NMRhub staff so please only select if you are a PI
  9. Press the "Add an additional PI button" to add PIs that you are associated with
    • You may be associated with more than one PI
    • You may associated your account with a PI, or request PI status, later by selecting Manage Account from the NMRhub widget (Figure 2)
    • PIs may also be associated with other PIs
  10. Click the Finish button

What happens Next?

  • You should receive an email that your request has been submitted
  • An account request will appear in our database and we will begin the process of verifying your account information including the institution, PI status if requested, and academic / government / non-profit status if selected)
  • Lab Permission Matrix
If you added one or more PIs to your account they would have received emails from support@nmrhub.org stating that a request from you has been made to link them as a Principal Investigator. There is a link in the email taking them to the Lab Permission page of NAN where they may approve or disapprove of the PI Request (Figure 5)
    • PIs may approve the PI request prior to your account request being completed
    • If you add a PI to your account and the PI does not have an account, they will receive an email about the request, but will need to create an account before they may approve the PI request. Note that the original PI request will still be valid and a new one should not be necessary
    • Note: It is important to make PI requests using the same email address that the PI uses when creating their NMRhub account.
